Finally Finished!

I got the piece done for Amber in Germany. I actually finished it a couple of weeks ago, but, since I have a child in school and am often running around like a chicken with my head cut off, I'm just now getting around to blogging about it. Here's the picture:

It really wasn't difficult to stitch. It was a bit repetitive once I got to the border, but it stitched up quickly, considering. Now, I can get back to the stocking I'm working on for the lady in Virginia.

Stand-Still

I didn't stitch any all this past week. I was busy trying to get adjusted to my new "Alyssa-in-school" schedule and planning for her birthday party. But, after my brief hiatus, I intend to get back into the stitching swing next week. I have to get Page 3 finished on "We Three Kings" by the end of the month so I can do Page 4 in October and be done by my deadline. I also have another paid stitch I have to complete, so I HAVE to get busy!

Non-Stitching Craft

Thanks to Cass at Cass Knits, I have a new outlet for showing off my crafty endeavors. This week's project is the flower pot that I painted for my daughter's Montessori school. It was VERY simple to do, but I'd be lying if I said that the idea was mine. I found the pattern in a book that I bought from Michaels. I did, however, do the painting all by myself!

There's the "from a distance" shot.

And there it is closer-up.

I feel I CAN take credit for the placement of the name (used a stencil for that) and the saucer, as there wasn't a saucer in the pattern and I had to have one. Other than that, it's almost "by the book".

Enjoy!

New Update

I haven't updated this blog lately. I've changed up my rotation just a bit. Now, I'm pulling out the "We Three Kings" stocking every OTHER week so I can finish it quicker. It's a paid stitch and I want to have it by the deadline. I worked on it last week and now I'm working on "Hummingbird Trellis". I'll get off my booty and take pictures of these soon. I always take pics of my finished works, but it's seldom that I get around to taking pictures of a WIP. I guess, because there are some weeks when I make little to no progress. I'll try to do better in the future.

Plugging Along

I did a little stitching on the "We Three Kings" stocking on Sunday. Didn't get any done yesterday, but I've GOT to make sure to get a little done today and the rest of the week. After all, I've had someone pay me to do this, so I've got to meet the deadline. Luckily, I still have several months, but I don't want to get in a bind and would rather get it done early. Must go work! :)

Taking a Break

This is the week I was supposed to be working on the "We Three Kings" stocking, but due to some serious shopping to get ready for Alyssa's new bedroom furniture to arrive today, I haven't touched it. So, I'm going to consider this week a "hiatus" of sorts, and next week, I'll grab the old stocking and resume my rotation as usual.

On a different note, I FINALLY got the "How Cute" pattern from Herrschners this week! It's adorable and I'm glad I ordered the frame and the mat as well, because it's going to look SO cute together. Now, if I could just finish one of these things already in my rotation, I could stick it in!

My Newest Project

I've started tonight on Greg's LSU Tigers logo. I'm not going to get too far on it tonight, though, because I have a monster headache. I was truck shopping all day and I'm tired. Greg DID get a new truck, though, which is fabulous, but I digress.

Somewhere in the midst of all that truck shopping, I went by Michael's and got the fabric for the LSU Tiger. Would you believe that, out of all the fabric stash I have, I couldn't put my hands on a piece of white 14ct. aida? Crazy! So, I went and got some so I could start on that, since it's this week's rotation. I'll let you know how it's going.

Finished!

I got it finished! I completed the second square of the "Bearatitudes" quilt. So, tomorrow I'll begin my new rotation order. For the record, here it is:

1. LSU Tiger logo
2. Messengers of Peace afghan
3. We Three Kings stocking
4. Sports afghan
5. Hummingbird Trellis afghan
6. Bearatitudes quilt

I'll work on each one for a week and then work in the bookmark and other "little" projects on weekends. This is to keep me from getting too bored. I tend to get in a stitchy "funk" if I spend too much time on one project.

What To Do?

I'm really not sure what I want to work on after I finish this second "Bearatitudes" square. I NEED to work on the stocking, since I'm being paid for it, but at the same time, I'd love to do something for myself, for a change. Everything I do is done for someone else!

I want to learn how to sew. I think it would be "mucho" awesome to design my own stuff, but that will be an endeavor for another day. Until then, I will just look, longingly, at my machine and wish I knew how to use it for something other than zig-zagging cross stitch fabric!

Almost Finished!

I've been working on the second square of the "Bearatitudes" quilt that I'm making for Alyssa. They stitch up fairly quickly, which is good. I've been trying to rotate my projects on a weekly basis, but I'm so close to finishing this one that I'm just going to keep going, even if it takes me an extra couple of days into next week. I'll post a picture when I'm done.

I Was Tagged!!

I just got tagged by my friend, Loretta, my favorite "anti-Martha". I usually come up with very random facts at very random times, but I'll do my best to conjure up 7 of them at once, for the purposes of this meme.

1. My favorite fact is: I haven't eaten a meal since 2004. I realize I need professional help, but that hasn't happened yet!

2. I'm the only person in my family to not be named after someone in the family. Everyone else has either Martha, Frances, or Eevon in their name somewhere, except me! I even gave my daughter Frances as a middle name!

3. I just bought 4 of the cutest pairs of flip-flops EVER and this time 10 years ago, I wouldn't have touched a flip-flop. I was very self conscious about my feet and thought they were ugly...therefore, I always kept them under wraps!

4. I have to have chapstick on my lips in order to sleep.

5. I'm a shopaholic and if I have nothing better to occupy my mind, I feel like I "have" to be out shopping somewhere...it's a sickness, I tell you!

6. I'm a serious pack rat. I can't throw ANYTHING away! I have birthday cards people have sent me. I have all of my daughter's baby clothes. I HAD baby food jars that I saved "just in case", until my husband threw them away for me.

7. I am very loyal in my devotion to my friends. I am also very loyal in my apathy towards the people I don't like!

So, there. I'm not THAT interesting, but I try! :)

Slump

I've been in a stitching slump lately. I've picked up some stuff and tried, but I'm not having much luck getting into it. I have so many things I need to do, so I hope this ends soon. I've been reading a book for the Books-A-Million book club and really enjoying it. It's surprising that I'm having such a great time, because I'm not usually much of a reader. I'll be sure to post a review on it when I'm done!

Hummingbird Trellis

I'm working on Block 16 of this afghan. It's taking FOREVER!! I'm sure this is because I lose interest for awhile and work on something else for a week or so. Now, I have several things in my rotation line, so I'm not dedicating the kind of time on JUST this that it probably needs. Can I help it if I'm flighty??????

Work

Haven't done much on the stocking today. I'm sure I'll do some tonight. I've been too busy working on getting one of the "big opps" on PayPerPost, which I did!! I was very excited to get that $100 opportunity. They'll be giving away a $500 later, but I decided it would be better to go ahead and grab the $100 than to get greedy and try for an opp that I might or might not get. I'm thrilled with my $100 and I can't wait to decide what to spend it on!!

We Three Kings

I'm going to start this stocking today, right after I finish writing this blog, actually. A lady from Virginia is paying me to stitch this one to go with the one she paid me to stitch for her mom's birthday that I just got finished with. I think this one might stitch up quicker than that one. Of course, I have longer to finish, too. She doesn't need this one until around Christmas. I guess as long as she has it in time to sew them both up, it'll be fine. I'm shooting to have it done by Thanksgiving, if not sooner. I'm going to stick in rotation, so I don't get burned out. Wish me luck!

A New Endeavor

I'm almost finished with the Baseball block of my afghan, and when I'm done, I intend to start on the new stocking that I'm going to be paid to do. I'm going to try rotating some projects along, so I don't get so burned out. So, for the time being, I'll be rotating the stocking, the sports afghan, the Hummingbird Trellis afghan and maybe another afghan for Alyssa (possibly the angels, or perhaps the butterflies). And, if something else comes up that I want to do, I'll add it. I have spaces for 7 WIPs (which for those of you non-stichers, means "Works In Progress"), so I'll have plenty of open spots! :)

Oops!

I forgot to post last week when I finished Block 15 of the hummingbirds. Well, I did, and now I'm working on the "Baseball" block of my sports afghan. I intend to work on this until Friday or until I'm finished, whichever comes first. If I get finished before Friday, I'm going to pull out a bookmark I'm going to do for my friend, Loretta. It's a model of hers and I've had it FOREVER, needing to finish it. If she weren't my friend, she would have SO kicked my butt!! If I take a break on Friday before I finish the block, I'm going to pull out Kim's second stocking and spend the weekend working on it. I'm going to start rotating so I don't get bored.

FINALLY!!

I finally managed to finish the stocking last weekend and got it mailed off on Tuesday. It's such a relief to have made it before the deadline. I just hope that Kim and her mom like it. Now I'm getting to work on a few of my own neglected projects. I've currently picked back up on my Hummingbird Trellis afghan and am working on Block 15. I'll be finished with it, hopefully, by the middle of this week, if not before and then I'll move on to the NEXT project in my rotation, which is the sports afghan I'm doing for my stepson.

Haven't Updated THIS in a While!

Over a year, in fact. I want to, though. I've been spending a lot of time stitching and I should be sharing it, right? Besides, the more blogs I have, the more money I can make with PayPerPost, and money will help me buy STASH!!

So, I'm currently working on a stocking. It's a commissioned piece and I have to be finished by April 1. So, I have roughly 3 weeks. I'm almost there, though...I think I can do it. If I remain dilligent. It's been tough these last few days, though, because I've been sick. I'm over the sickness part of it, but I just can't seem to get my appetite back. I have emetophobia like one could not imagine and it's just hard for me to force myself to eat when my stomach hurts or feels yucky, even if I know that the "yucky" is caused by NOT eating! So, I'm having to make myself eat SMALL amounts for right now and I'm hoping and praying that it doesn't get to me, because I know me and if it makes me sick, then I'll quit trying.

But, as soon as I finish this stocking up, I'm going to either work on another one of Alyssa's quilt blocks, or I'm going to do another block on the Hummingbird Trellis afghan. Maybe both.
