I actually finished it a couple of weeks ago, but, since I have a child in school and am often running around like a chicken with my head cut off, I'm just now getting around to blogging about it. Here's the picture:

It really wasn't difficult to stitch. It was a bit repetitive once I got to the border, but it stitched up quickly, considering. Now, I can get back to the stocking I'm working on for the lady in Virginia.

Stand-Still

I didn't stitch any all this past week. This week's project is the flower pot that I painted for my daughter's Montessori school. It was VERY simple to do, but I'd be lying if I said that the idea was mine. I found the pattern in a book that I bought from Michaels. I did, however, do the painting all by myself!

There's the "from a distance" shot.

And there it is closer-up.

I feel I CAN take credit for the placement of the name (used a stencil for that) and the saucer, as there wasn't a saucer in the pattern and I had to have one. So, I'm going to consider this week a "hiatus" of sorts, and next week, I'll grab the old stocking and resume my rotation as usual.

On a different note, I FINALLY got the "How Cute" pattern from Herrschners this week! I'm not going to get too far on it tonight, though, because I have a monster headache. I was truck shopping all day and I'm tired. Greg DID get a new truck, though, which is fabulous, but I digress.

Somewhere in the midst of all that truck shopping, I went by Michael's and got the fabric for the LSU Tiger. Would you believe that, out of all the fabric stash I have, I couldn't put my hands on a piece of white 14ct. aida? Crazy! A lady from Virginia is paying me to stitch this one to go with the one she paid me to stitch for her mom's birthday that I just got finished with. I think this one might stitch up quicker than that one. Of course, I have longer to finish, too. She doesn't need this one until around Christmas. I guess as long as she has it in time to sew them both up, it'll be fine. I'm shooting to have it done by Thanksgiving, if not sooner. I'm going to stick in rotation, so I don't get burned out. I'll be finished with it, hopefully, by the middle of this week, if not before and then I'll move on to the NEXT project in my rotation, which is the sports afghan I'm doing for my stepson.

Haven't Updated THIS in a While!

Over a year, in fact. I want to, though. I've been spending a lot of time stitching and I should be sharing it, right? Besides, the more blogs I have, the more money I can make with PayPerPost, and money will help me buy STASH!!

So, I'm currently working on a stocking. It's a commissioned piece and I have to be finished by April 1. So, I have roughly 3 weeks. I'm almost there, though...I think I can do it. If I remain dilligent. It's been tough these last few days, though, because I've been sick. I'm over the sickness part of it, but I just can't seem to get my appetite back. I have emetophobia like one could not imagine and it's just hard for me to force myself to eat when my stomach hurts or feels yucky, even if I know that the "yucky" is caused by NOT eating! So, I'm having to make myself eat SMALL amounts for right now and I'm hoping and praying that it doesn't get to me, because I know me and if it makes me sick, then I'll quit trying.

But, as soon as I finish this stocking up, I'm going to either work on another one of Alyssa's quilt blocks, or I'm going to do another block on the Hummingbird Trellis afghan. Maybe both.

La La La

Okay, I lied...I didn't get finished with Alyssa's prayer picture thing this past weekend! Those darn letters are taking longer than I though. Maybe THIS weekend! I've been getting sidetracked lately. I haven't been in a stitching mood. I DID get my "Rain Forest Afghan" pattern in the mail this week, though! I'm REALLY looking forward to doing that one!

Other than that, I'm just waiting on the hurricane to come blow me away. I deserve it...I said I wanted Hurricane Rebekah to come obliterate Texas in 2007 and I guess thye just got the "R" hurricanes mixed up...however, I didn't want Texas to be wiped out while I was still HERE----it was supposed to wait until I got OUT!! Oh well!

I'm trying to get ready for Alyssa's birthday party now. She wants a princess party, so that's what she's getting. We'll be having it at the Clubhouse for Kids up the road, so I won't have to worry about getting a cake or plates or drinks or anything like that, so that'll be good. All I have to worry about is her gifts and goodie bags for the kids. I'm also making crowns for them. I found some that look girly for the "princesses" and some different ones for the "princes". I think we'll have a pretty good time, and that's what matters!

Great Movie!

I can't speak for everyone, but I LOVED "A Lot Like Love" with Ashton Kutcher and Amanda Peet. This week, it's the "Hummingbird Trellis" afghan. This weekend, I'll be finishing up Alyssa's prayer picture, then, next week, I'll be going back to the "Mother Tree". I don't think it'll take me too much longer to finish that one. Then I have two birth announcments to do for some friends of my grandma and grandpa.

I'm still collecting awesome patterns and fabrics! I started on the little prayer thingy I got for Alyssa. I'm just SO sick of working on cross stitch (*ducks, so as not to get hit*). I have a Harry Potter book to read, but I never have enough time to really get into a book. As soon as things start getting interesting in the book, Alyssa starts hollering, "I hung-y, Mommy". I'm up to my great-grandma's name on "Mother Tree" and I haven't worked on "Hummingbird Trellis" in several days now.

My friend, Jessica, and I went to Hobby Lobby a few days ago, while she was still in town, and bought a few things. I bought a kit with a bedtime prayer on it. It's the same one I'm teaching Alyssa to say before bed every night, so I HAD to have it. Jessica also bought a Sue Hillis chart that says, "I love you more today than yesterday. Yesterday you really got on my nerves". She's going to stitch it for her boyfriend, Rob, and then I'm going to borrow it and stitch it for Greg. We just thought it was cute!

At any rate, I'm hoping to get a little more done on "Mother Tree" tomorrow, and then I'll do some catching up on the afghan before the new magazine comes out. Then, I should be able to start on the bedtime prayer one before too long!

And, yet, another thing I got from Loretta!

I Just Stole This.....LOL!

Gotta love Loretta! I steal the CUTEST things from her blog!!

Let's talk about looooove.

1) Are you currently married or involved with a significant other? Givespecifics and length of time that you have been with that person.
We've been together since November, 2000 and we got married in 2002, shortly after the EPT proposed for us!!

2) Where did you meet your significant other? In a bar. I, literally, ran from him for an hour, because I thought he was a freak! I will NEVER doubt my first impressions EVER again!! LOL!

3) What is your anniversary or special day of ANY kind and what did youdo on that day with your significant other? Well, our wedding anniversary is April 13, but November 25 is also special, cause that's when we met and we haven't dated anyone else since then.

4) What is the nicest thing that a person that you are or have been involved with has done for you? That's a tough one, cause every guy I ever dated or cared about did special things, and my husband does special things for me all the time. Little things, like going all the way back to the store when he realizes he forgot something that I asked him to pick up, and big things, like paying all the bills all by himself, so that I can stay at home and be with our daughter and not miss ANY part of her "babyhood".

5) Do you have a special song or movie or place with your significantother? Describe. Not really. I mean, the bar where we met was pretty special, but it's closed down now. Our first house together was special, but it's in Mississippi, and we're not.

Loretta Tagged Me Again!!

I love these things!

5 Things I heard too many times in the Month of May

1. I was born on May 6, 1979, at 12:04 PM....which makes me a Taurus. I was born in Jackson, Mississippi.

2) Are there any famous events or famous people that share your specialday? Several, although the only ones I can remember off the top of my head are George Clooney and Bob Segar

3) What did you do to celebrate your last birthday? Not shit...my child busted her lip, so I spent the whole day playing "nurse".

4) What is your best birthday celebration that you can remember? Well, all my birthdays when I was a kid were great, cause I got lots of presents! My best birthday as an adult was my 22nd, cause I had NO kids and my wonderful friends threw me a surprise party!

5) What is the best birthday present you have ever received? Um....I honestly don't remember. The only gifts I can remember were the ones I got THIS year, because it was only a week ago!!

Geez...it's been FOREVER!!

I was just inspired by my friend, Stacey, to update my blog a little. I haven't done it in a LONG time!! Anyway, I got finished with "Railroad Treasures" last night. That's the one I was working on for my grandpa. Got the finishing backstitches put in right before bed. So, now I'm picking my quilt squares back up. I also still have the "Hummingbird Trellis" in rotation. I finally got the third block done and now I'm working on number 4. The new magazine just came out, so I have blocks 5-8 to work on too! I'm SO far behind! I don't think I'll EVER catch up with this!

Damn a Frog!!

Okay, so I spent hours stitching blocks on my "Hummingbird Trellis" afghan, and spent hours ripping the bastard out! Turns out, the way I was stitching it, the afghan blocks are 95x95 stitches and the patterns are 97x97, so I had to rip out EVERYTHING!! Oh well, the good news is, I have until December, 2006, since that's how long this series is going to last! Surely I can find time in the next 2 years to fix this mess!

I also got started on my grandfather's Christmas present. It's called "Railroad Treasures". He's a big collector of railroad memoribilia, so I think he'll really like it!

I ALSO finally got started on the UFO project for this round of the RR. It's a Paula Vaughan design on linen. It's really pretty and linen doesn't seem to be as difficult to work with as I originally thought.

Anyway, that's about it for my stitching news. The only other "news" in my life is that Cosmo says that the "in" thing for this spring/summer is straight eyebrows, so I'm having to let my arches come back in so I can repluck them straight! Oh, the things I go through to be beautiful and stylish!! LOLOLOL!! I can't wait cause I'm beginning to feel a little like Groucho Marx.

Almost Done...

Okay, stitching news first.....I'm almost done with "Sleepy Friends" for my friend, Jennifer's baby. All I lack is the backstitching and personalization....but I obviously can't personalize it until the baby is actually born....so all I lack for now is the backstitching, which I'm almost done with! Then I can get started on some other stuff. I've got to make the quilt squares for Love Quilts, I've got to do this round of the RR, I've got something I'm doing for my grandpa and my grandma's afghan came in the mail today so I'm wanting to get the first 3 squares of it done so I don't get too far behind since the next issue of the magazine comes out in March!

Nothing else is really happening at the moment! I've got to go sometime this week and get my Texas driver's license, since it looks like I'm going to be here for awhile....and I've got to go get my eyes checked so I can get new contacts before these rot out of my eyes! LOL!! Then I've also got to go get my hair cut....and maybe rehighlighted. I've got about a million things I need to do....question is, how much of it will I actually do??

Been Awhile

Actually, it seems like it's been forever! I've bought a few more things off ebay and done some more work on my "Sleepy Friends" for my friend's baby. I've actually done a good bit of work on it the last few days because I haven't felt like doing much else. I've felt like crap....again....like THAT'S anything new!
Looks like we're FINALLY gonna get rid of our houseguest. He's moving out this weekend....can you feel my excitement??!!??!!??!! He's SO totally getting on my nerves! I can't wait to have him gone!

I've been brainstorming on my state quilt project and can't wait to get it underway. I've got a book that I bought off ebay that should be getting here in a few days and as soon as I get that, I'm gonna really buckle down and start my designs. I'm gonna start with the states that I already have someone to stitch. Actually I'll probably start with Texas so I can go ahead and do it and get an idea of what the thing's gonna look like. I think it'll be great once I get it all together!

Can't Think of Anything To Call This One

The worst part about one of these blogs is trying to come up with a title for it....crazy, I know. Anyway, I finished Patrick's birth sampler and now I'm starting on the one for my friend Jennifer's baby who is due in March. She doesn't have a decided name yet...well, her first name will be Riley, but they haven't decided on a middle name yet....oh well, it doesn't matter yet anyway!
We got our assignments for the charity quilt and I've bought all my supplies that I need, which wasn't all that much...just had to get the fabric and a couple of colors that I didn't have. I'll be starting on that in the next day or two.
That's about all I've got on the stitching front....other than that my life has been dull....I stay pretty pissed off all the time since we still have our "roommate" living here. I was hoping that being a total bitch would run him off, but he's a toughie! But if he's NOT gone by Feb 1, I will make his life SOOOO miserable!

New Ideas

I had what I refer to as a "brain fart" today....I'm going to take ALL of my stitching that I do in 2005 and make an actual paper journal as I complete each piece. That way, it'll all be on paper and I can keep up with everything. Silly, maybe, but I think it'll be fun!

I didn't do a whole lot of stitching today. I went to the mall for a little while and to Wal-Mart later....never said my life was fun, but it's all I have! Alyssa didn't get crap for a nap today so she'll be asleep in a few minutes, which will be good! Hopefully I'll get more stitching done tomorrow....that's my goal anyway!

Welcome to 2005!!

It's been a relatively quiet year so far, thankfully! Now if the next 354 days could be as peaceful this would be "my" year...but what are the odds??

I got my husband's tiger finished at approximately 11:47 last night, so I made my 2004 deadline. Now I've started on the baby sampler for my friend Christy's new baby boy, Patrick, who was born December 30.
I have an insanely large list of things to work on this year....I have another baby sampler to do after Patrick's, then I have RR things to do, and a charity quilt to help with, and I'm starting on Christmas gifts for this year....I want to make something for everyone. Luckily I have a very small family!

But I'm going to pace myself and get as much as I can done! I'll keep everyone updated!!

Glad it's OVER!

I'm finally getting around to posting again now that Christmas is over. I had a wonderful time going back home and seeing my family for the first time in a year. It was a LONG trip (16 hours total) but well worth it.

I got to give my cousin and his wife their wedding sampler I had stitched for them. I wasn't actually there when they opened it, but my grandmother said they LOVED it...which is good.

So now I'm trying to finish up the tiger for my husband. I'm almost done with it and when I get it finished I have to start on a couple of birth announcements for some friends who have babies due within the next 3 months. Already got both of them kitted up and I'm ready to go!!

That's about all there is to my stitching world right now...but I'll be back!!

Busy Busy Busy

I haven't had as much time for stitching these past few days. We're getting ready to move to a new apartment. We're just going across the parking lot, so it's not a "big" move....just a change of scenery and neighbors! I DID manage to finish the monotonous blue part of my husband's tiger yesterday...now I'm working with different shades of orange....much more pleasant!! I'm hoping to have his done soon so I can get started on the RR I have to have done by Jan. 15!

It's About Time!!

I FINALLY got my cousin's wedding sampler finished! Got the names on it at about 2:00 this morning and finished up the french knots when I got up! So, aside from framing, it's ready to go. I'm thinking about just putting it in a box and wrapping it up like it is and let them worry about framing it! At least that way they'll get to decide how they want it done! Now I've got to finish up that pesky tiger for my husband, which won't be SO bad after I get through with all the blue!

One of my New Year's resolutions is to start working on my cross stitch gifts and to take more pictures of them as I do them so that my stitching friends can see my progress. I spent most of the day waiting for the maintenance guy to come fix the light fixture in my bedroom so I could see to stitch. He hadn't shown up by 4:00 so I gathered Alyssa up and went to Wal-Mart to buy a lamp...so just as soon as I walked out the door, the guy came and fixed the light...but I went ahead and got my lamp anyway cause I'd been wanting it. Alyssa and I got caught in a horrible storm on the way home. I was pretty freaked out because I hate driving in the rain, especially when I have my daughter in the car, but luckily she slept all the way home.

So I got my lamp and worked on my stitching a little bit. I talked to my grandma and she was telling me that she got my stockings sewn together and is going to mail them to me probably tomorrow. I can't wait to see them!

Another Day.....

I haven't done much in the way of stitching so far today....I didn't even wake up until after 10:00. It's 2:10 pm now and we're hopefully about to go back to WalMart to pick up the picture we had made yesterday of Alyssa with Santa. If it turns out well, I'm thinking about having some copies made and including them with our Christmas cards.
I plan to do some stitching when we get home though. Today is "Tiger Day"....the day I work on my husband's tiger picture. I like to alternate which one I work on so that I won't get too bored working on the same piece everyday. I'm trying to get these two done by Christmas so I can make gifts out of them, but I don't know if it'll happen or not. After Christmas, I'll have a couple of weeks to work on the round robin piece I have here before I have to send it to the next person, then I have baby samplers for a couple of friends who are having babies in February and March. THEN, I want to make a musical piece for my former band director who has always been like a father to me....and THEN I want to have all my supplies together to make the hummingbird afghan for my grandmother.

Stitching aside, my child is getting on my last nerve today! She's being accident-prone and hitting her head on EVERYTHING!! I feel sorry for her when she hurts herself, but it's like she never learns anything from her pain...she's such a silly girl!!

New Blog

I've just decided to start one of these to give myself something to do. I think I'm gonna try using it as a place to keep kind of a journal of all my hobby efforts. Right now, I'm working on stitching a wedding sampler for my cousin and a tiger for my husband. The wedding thing is coming right along, however, I'm getting really tired of the tiger. It's going to be gorgeous if I can ever get it finished, but, so far, it's just different shades of blue which gets rather monotonous! We went to Wal-Mart just a little while ago and got my daughter's picture made with Santa and while we were there, I went to the craft section and looked at the CharlesCraft afghans. I found a magazine last night that said that in February, 2005 they're going to start a afghan series that will be hummingbirds and I would LOVE to stitch that for my grandma for next Christmas! I think it'll be SO pretty if I can get the right kind of afghan. They had one in the magazine that could be ordered, but I have a feeling I'd have a hard time getting my husband to order me a $66 afghan that I was going to have to make myself. Oh well, I'll look in a few other places before I decide on one!
